You have to try a different USB stick. I also have been experiencing some "funny" behaviour from some of the USB sticks I have.
The "bad" boy is the 64 GB I have. I transfer the music there, everything is good. Plug in, play and the next time I start the car - "no usb" there. I had to unplug and plug a few times to see it on the display. I have another USB stick 4GB and everything is good - no problems so far. The last discovery happened a few days ago when I tried to have both sticks together - it doesn't show the second one.
Any feedback from the forum members is very welcome!!
I have had similar problems with USB sticks and every time it has been cheap USB sticks from cheap brands, just about any one from a well known brand will do you well.
Have you tried using another USB stick? That would at least tell us if it is the stick in particular or maybe something to do with the NX's USB port.
I have a Kingston 64G stick, but found out that I have to convert my music to MP3, so not a stick problem but a file problem

will modify and retry

True!

That's another thing, using most common file formats which for the most part works flawless.

Thanks for sharing that, sure to save folks a lot of time.
Do 64 GB sticks work consistently? All of my files are MP3 or FLAC. Sandisk 64 GB sticks are pretty inexpensive.
I am also having problems with USB sticks. At this time I am beginning to suspect the USB socket. When I first got the NX I moved the USB stick from a BMW with poor results. I just starting using a I Pod in its place, that worked for about 3 weeks. Now the I Pod does not work and the NX is getting music from my I Phone 6 through Bluetooth.
You may have a loose USB port. This issue happens all the time on my laptops so I assume the same thing is occurring with the NX too. I suggest you take it to your local dealer and show them the connection issue.
Format you USB stick

Guys, I had the same issue. I was using all appropriate files but no play. You have to format your USB stick to the correct format: FAT format. Actually, it is listed somewhere in the Navigation guide. For Windows, go to Explorer and right click on your USB drive. Select Format and see which format you have. If your stick is not working, just re-format to FAT.

The USB stick must be formatted to FAT but that is not the problem. It seems that my NX does not like USB sticks but is happy with I Pods. Even though I had a problem one time with the I Pod it has worked ever since.
