Pre-Load Front Differential

I found this from a review of the 2015 Camry:

"There is also a new pre-load differential in the 2015 model. Essentially it is a diff with a conical spring inside it to provide friction when the wheels begin to spin at different rates. We’re told this mimics the effect of a limited slip differential, and we tested this with some aggressive straight line launches at a drag race Toyota had set up.

Even with traction control off and the fronts chirping, the steering wheel stayed true and the Camry maintained its line down the track."

Pretty cool...and it is in the NX front axle. So, no torque steer!

That sounds awesome, are there any video's of it in action that further explain it and how it works?
I don't think they can ever truly eliminate torque steer. They can get close sure, but when you routhe that much power through a pivot point it wants to do nothing but twist.

Remember Ford supposedly had the answer with the Rev-o-knuckle front setup in the Focus RS... it didn't work, well it worked it just didnt fully eliminate TS....

My nx200 fsport has horrible torque steer
If I'm doing 60 and I give it gas my car lurches to the right. I have to pull my steering wheel to the left and constantly keep pulling the steering wheel to left in order to keep my car straight.

I went to the dealer and they said its normal because of the fwd torque steer

If my car is coasting no gas being given it drives relatively straight but the second you give it any kind of gas it wants to pull.

Honestly I can't believe it's normal.
People here talk about something in place to prevent this. Maybe one doesn't have it?

I think that the pre-loaded front diff only decreases the effect...it does not eliminate torque steer.

I get that but I have had mostly front wheel drive cars my whole life and never experienced it the way I do on my nx

Really weird. Guess I'm gonna have to go back to the dealer. See if the alignment is off again

have you had the chance to stop by your dealer as yet?
I've only every experienced a bit of this in my old car when I started from a full stop on wet pavement. Sounds odd that it happens while you're moving.

Something is not right with your vehicle. I don't think that alignment unless it was severely out of whack would cause what you have described. I would suspect the differential.
