Received an email today for an upcoming NX Beyond Utility Drive Event. Some of the highlights:

TIMED AUTOCROSS

Guests will be able to drive the first-ever NX on a custom-designed timed autocross, testing the agility and responsiveness of the vehicle.

COMPETITIVE COMPARISON

Guests will also have the opportunity to compare the NX against competitive models: Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLK350.

DRAG RACE

Experience the thrill behind the first-ever Lexus turbocharged engine. Compete against your fellow guests in a 0-60-0 mph side-by-side drag race. Go beyond utility with the Lexus NX.

Sounds like fun. Ask your Lexus Dealer if there will be one in your area.

Sounds like a lot of fun. Where is this happening?

I wonder what they mean by having the chance to compare against competitive models. Will you be able to drive those models a well, or do they just have them on paper or something.

This one is in Arcadia, Ca. on Feb. 21. From the email:
And just to keep things interesting, we'll also have competing models there for you to put through their paces, including the Mercedes-Benz GLK350, Audi Q5 and BMW X3.
So it looks like you can do a comparison drive.

as always
that's the best thing for them to do, get cars from their competition for people to compare side by side, looking forward to seeing the end result of that going down.
Thats probably the best way to do it. I mean at a buyers stand point what better than to see the competiting vehicles up front. With a visual you can compare with not only numbers and diagrams in a brichure. It really helps.

And this way Lexus is able to talk about its competitors instead of having people test drive those vehicles at other brands' dealerships. It gives them the chance to influence people against those vehicles.
i don't think it's really to influence people against those vehicles but rather to let them get a feel for what the competition is like compared to what lexus has to offer.
