Production of the Lexus NX has begun at Lexus's Miyata plant. NX assembly takes place in Miyata, the neighboring Kanda Factory will make the engines. The Kanda factory was shut down previously because of the economic downturn, but now it has had new life breathed into it with NX production starting.

Toyota is going to be building 10 million 2-liter turbo engines per year for models like the NX. That has led to Toyotato start production on a second assembly line and to hire people in expectation of increased demand.

Finally!

It's good to see that Lexus still makes vehicles in it's home market, at least with the NX we can feel better about it's build quality
what do you mean, at least? Most Lexus still come out of Japan regardless...

Wow...cool to see...despite being Lexus and all, i would not want to own the first one off the line.... :)
i said at least since I couldn't confirm that the rest of their vehicles were produced in Japan, but I did know it was more than one of them.
This is the sole facility building all global supply, I really think we're going to be looking at demand far outstripping supply. Meaning a hot little product with pent up demand and NO tolerance for negotiation on the dealers part...

Unless you plan on waiting you might be looking at over MSRP...

Does Lexus dealers do this? From my understanding from talking with Lexus dealers around me, Lexus does NOT support over-MSRP pricing. Now, of course, dealers can add window tint for $1000 or something stupid like that.

But, yeah, i doubt that you can negotiate much off MSRP with the NX, at least in the first 6 months or so.
