Racing, besides learning to build a better car, is part public relations. In this case, showing that Lexus is not boring. I wonder what their racing budget will be.

Good question actually... I would imagine it falls under the jurisdiction of TMG.. but then again I'm not sure if Lexus is actually FACTORY racing like the Toyota WEC team. I know in Super GT for instance all the RC's are customer cars... and aside from the Corvette Racing team I don't think the factories go GT3 racing...

So in other words lexus has a cost effective PR machine, they build the car, deal with none of the negative press as its not 'Lexus' Racing... yet get to reap the rewards of success... Win win IMO

They've been said to have A LOT of money ready to go into just about anything they're willing to, so it just depends on how much faith they have in what ever venture

With Lexus making a run at the US luxury sales crown this year and in the future I think that racing will be a part of that push.

For the past while I haven't thought of Lexus as boring at all.

Racing is indeed part of that, with their effort to make Lexus more of a sporty brand, racing just naturally fits right in.
