Lexus To Include Weather and Fuel Services

Lexus is expanding their relationship with INRIX to include real time weather and fuel services, showing drivers up to date data about the weather and ability to search for the lowest gas prices near you.

These INRIX-powered services are available in Europe for Lexus owners but there's no mention of it being released into the American market.

Hopefully these extras will become the standard internationally because I assume it only needs a simple systems update.

Those both sound like excellent features to have. Having knowledge of the gas prices around you is a great way to make the industry more competitive. Wonder why its not coming to NA yet?
This is great to have but the usual trend is prices go down at night and in the end all you really save is a few bucks per tank or just a small percentage per tank, insignificant. It's even worse when you're waiting in a long line for cheap gas.
Hmmm, my wife already has this gas price and weather feature on her Audi from the Audi Connect sim card.....but she doesn't use it because the "weather is pretty obvious" and "the gas prices are what they are within a couple of pennies of one another."
Guess Lexus is now just catching up to what Audi already has.
I'll probably just stick with what's worked for me all these years, get gas when I need it regardless of price.
The gas prices display is only helpful if you are traveling out of your area. There are apps for this if you feel the need. Driving locally I find that I go to the same places regardless of price. We have spent $10000 or more to get a Lexus over a Toyota why worry about a few cents a gallon.
The weather feature can be very helpful but once again there are apps that work very well.
As a long distance motorcycle rider it is helpful to know when to add weather protection. But that is usually a spur of the moment decision.

That's very true, driving locally most folks already know where and when to go and even if you do, due to traffic it may not be worth it to go somewhere cheaper while still looking for quality fuel.
The times when you arel ooking for a gas statino are when you are traveling and need to fill up. If you are outside the areaa with which you are familiar, you open up the app, see where the gas stations are and then choose one to go to. Its good for finding the gas stations, and if there are multiple ones to choose from then you can compare based on price.

As with so many things though, there is an app for that so I don't need to have it installed into my car.
The more useful INRIX services that Lexus has are the real-time to traffic congestion and road incidents alerts and the off-street parking locator.
I usually have to listen to the radio for real time traffic reports but if they can warn me about it then all the better and finding parking spaces downtown is a pain in the butt so the parking locator will lower my stress level tremendously.

You can even cross reference that information with google traffic reports which at times are reliable, even with the radio too as you have all those channels for picking up on what's going on. On the radio you might hear of something the instant it happens while the Lexus system takes a bit longer to process that issue.
How long would it take a traffic report to show up on the Lexus system? Seems pointless if there's a long wait until the system updates.
Am I missing something? My NX has weather and gas prices already (from the Lexus Apps icon on the main menu).
Well this is talking about European Lexuses so perhaps that is why it isn't quite connecting with your own experience.
They probably had some configuring to do on the european model that couldn't allow them to roll out these features during the same time that we got it from what i'm guessing.

Those two options are supposed to come standard.

Last I heard real-*time traffic powered navigation was in the Lexus IS so I'm not sure if it's available as standard for the more recent models.
