I am considering either a Lexus RX450h or a Lexus NX Hybrid. Does anyone have any details as to what the big differences are between these two hybrid SUVs? Thanks.

I think that one of the biggest differences is just the difference in looks between the two. If you are adventurous then the NX should be right for you. The RX is is much more on the conservative side with styling.

The NX is going to have far less horsepower than the RX. 200 hp compared to 295 hp respectively. The NX is also 5 inches shorter than the RX, so if space is what you are concerned with, the RX may be what to go with.

Thanks for the great responses gentlemen!! The main thing that I am excited about with the Lexus NX is the styling and the gas mileage!! I know that the engine and hybrid system are going to be the same as the one from the Camry Hybrid. I am just curious how much of an improvement the gas mileage will be over the Lexus RX450h. I am also going to try and wait till March before I decide so that I can see the production version of the Lexus NX before I make my final decision over which one to buy. So now the wait begins!! Here's to hoping that the production version is almost exactly the same as Prototype!! Anything less would be a big let down!!!

The NX is probably going to be smaller than the RX450h.

Which is probably why the engine is going to be smaller and have a lower output

I'd say the NX will have better mileage compared to the RX450h.

NX seems to be smaller, more stylish, more fuel efficient.

At least that is my guess.

It is after all an SUV that will underpin the RX.
I doubt the NX concept represents the production model well at all, it's more of a design exercise. I expect the production model to be much different

I don't know. I've heard rumors the concept is relatively close to production form. as for mileage and size the debate is still up in the air as to which platform the NX is riding on. Its either the CT200h or the RAV4. Either way both are small fel efficient architectures, I expect the NX to be class leading or a close second

Its a crossover so it'll be smaller than the RX for sure

The question is just how much power the 2.0L turbo will make

The NX hybrid should have the camry hybrid motor in it.

So just look to that to have an idea.

breaking the 300hp mark will be key IMO.
torque has to at least be north of 250

that is going to be pushed hard from a 4 cylinder if thats a case.

you are talking STi power numbers from 2.0L.

That is nearing CLA 45 AMG numbers from a 2.0L./

Im basically looking for Subaru FA20T sort of power or better, so basically STI power and torque which is ideal and practical.

We will wait and see.. because if Lexus really does come out with a 300hp 2.0L turbo.. I can think of some other applications they could do that would sell very well....

It's possible, even if it doesn't hit 300, over 250 will be great. Something that could easily be placed in the Lexus RC coupe
