Good news people of Lexus NX! Your car has
won the 2016 Top Safety Pick + award from iiHS for the midsize luxury SUV segment. Eligible models can win one of two
top safety pick awards; the Top Safety Pick or Top Safety Pick +.
To win the
Top Safety Pick award, cars must score good ratings in five crashworthiness tests and earn a basic rating for front crash prevention. For cars like the
Lexus NX to win the Top Safety Pick + award, they must earn an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention.
The
five crashworthiness tests that the Lexus NX scored very well in was the small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints test.
Scoring the highest rating possible, a G, in all five tests qualified it for the regular award but its ‘advanced’ front crash prevention rating with optional equipment gave it a plus.
What’s also interesting is that the Lexus NX has won the same award with its 2015 model the year before and 3 other Lexus models has made the list in two consecutive years.
Did anyone see this coming? Also, what do you guys think of the other winners?
