I don't put too much stock on Consumer Reports' lists but it may affect the sales numbers for the Lexus NX when it's on the lower end of the Best and Worst Cars of 2015 report.

I'm not sure which NX Consumer Reports purchased but they have listed the Lexus NX 200t/300h as one of the four worst cars of 2015. They say it's similar to riding in a Toyota Rav 4 and that it was a "firm, jostling ride". Some of the interior parts felt cheap (nothing specific was mentioned) and the infotainment touch pad was hard to use while driving.

Most of the info was hidden because you have to sign in to see their reviews. Do you agree with any of the aforementioned points they have made?

I don't trust Consumer Reports' about anything. I find that they are very biased and don't have much common knowledge about what they are testing. We saw the same type reports when they were testing the RX400h when it first appeared. The sad part of this is it will get much attention in the news media and be posted in other dealers show rooms.
I do believe the NX does have a harsher ride then many of its competitors but it also handles better. I had difficulty with the touch screen at first but after a month I am getting the hang of it. The interior in red look great I don't know about the other colors. I find no ruff edges unlike some of the GM vehicles. I don't have trim falling off like the last 2 BMWs that I have owned.

It's very general and you can't really see the complete review without an account.
Seems like regardless of the review Lexus will still come out on top. Lexus has outsold every other luxury brand in august. Not sure how much of that is from the NX. .

They said it is from the upcoming October issue. I will say that I thought the ride could have been a little softer for a crossover. It is just right for the F-Sport though, although that is why I got the non-F; I didn't want the firmer suspension. Funny, I'm really hard to please and I'm really happy. To say it is one of the FOUR WORSE vehicles is totally ridiculous though! The Jeep Cherokee can be hacked into and remotely driven off a cliff, not to mention the nightmare Jeep had with the new transmission last year which the Chrysler 200 has also that I'm sure hasn't been fully corrected. This REALLY makes me doubt their judgement now!

I read this online as the headline caught my eye. Most of the stuff they mentioned is, to me, somewhat superficial. They compared the NX to German luxury SUVs. What they forgot to mention is that German luxury vehicles will spend much more time in the shop being repaired than a Lexus, and will cost more to fix. The ride is comfortable for and the touchpad is a non issue, as my car has a nob on top the touchpad that makes it very easy to use.

Didn't Consumer Reports name the IS 250 as one of their worst cars for a couple of years? Did Lexus make any modifications to that model following those reviews? It sure doesn't seem to have affected their sales any. Love my NX!

It just seems quite strange when you look at customer reviews of both Lexus vehicles and the brand. I mean its called "Consumer Reports" but it doesn't seem to be very in line with what consumers actually are reporting. lol

Letter to the Editor

I normally trust Consumers Reports but was very disappointed in their off-base report, so I wrote a letter to the editor. It's ok that they didn't rate it the highest in its class but to call it a "Worst Pick" was inexcusable and makes me want to cancel my subscription! I agree with the earlier comments that I based my purchase on the total package: performance, ride, quality and reliability. If it's a worst pick, why is it the 2nd highest selling small SUV? Sorry CR, I'm afraid you are the "Worst Pick" for car ratings!

I think that the articles that are coming out that dish the NX do not realize what Lexus has done.
The NX is not a junior RX and that is what they expected. While there are items that could be improved that is common with all vehicles.
When I first saw the grill on the F Sport I wanted to cover it up with something, now I like it.
The seats while comfortable could have a little more adjustment. I am spoiled coming from BMW M Sport seats.
The analog clock does not stand out except as a styling exercise. I would like to have the option of having a digital clock in one of the displays.
While these are minor the real issue is how the NX rides and drives. I can not find a fault in the ride, handling, or the engine transmission.

It's strange that Toyota is better than Lexus. But if such think customers I guess they know better. But for me Toyota Camry is better for example. I read a lot of interesting information on carveh.com and it has always been a favourite car among the critics.

I think that a large part of it may be expectations. The NX is better than its Toyota counterpart, but when you have higher expectations for the NX, perhaps the NX feels like it isn't doing enough. Not sure if that is the way it should be, but it definitely is part of the way things are.
