I just curious what some of you think about the Jaguar F-Pace SUV that's coming out early next year. I like the "S" model but it's definitely more expensive than the NX 200t F-Sport.

I think it is very competitively priced. Managed to spec out an awd 340 hp F-Pace for a lower MSRP than our F-Sport
It's around the same price as the NX 200t F-Sport with more hp. Lexus may see it's sales go down but that's good news for those who want a 200t F-Sport but didn't want to pay the price for it.
I built a few different ones but mainly the "R" and "S" models. My built for the "S" model was about $62K without NAV and other options. I emailed a salesman that I know at a Land Rover/Jaguar dealership to ask about it. He said so far they don't have any info on the availability on ordering the F-Pace. I'm definitely considering trading in my F-Sport for the F-Pace. One major issue for me with Land Rover/Jaguar is that the dealership is over an hour and half away from my home.

I don't think the F-Pace will take too much away from Lexus. I think it'd take more away from the Germans.

I saw the Model X today. It not really a competitor, but it is quite interesting.

The F-Pace is about 3 inches longer and wider than the NX and seems to be priced closer to the RX. I think it might affect RX sales more than the NX's. F-Pace is more performance orientated and included scheduled maintenance is definitely a plus.
Thank goodness my wife's car is only three weeks old.....

She used to drive a Daimler and a Jaguar and would love another Jag, but it'll probably be at least another three to four years before she'd consider the new F-Pace....and hopefully by then the "new car bugs" we'll be worked out.
It will be interesting to read what Consumer Reports has to say....>:D

Me, I'm sticking with Lexus until another manufacturer shows me something better.
I do not see the F-Pace as a NX competitor it will cost way more in the US. I see it's market as Porsche or Audi SQ5.

Don't you think that it will compete against the RX as well?

Same here, i view Lexus as a step below. F-Pace to my knowledge is right up to par with what porsche offers. Also I don't think someone with F-Pace money will loo at Lexus... it's going to be a small number

Except for the F Sport models Lexus's are too soft. I expect the Jag to be a better handling vehicle.
Don't get me wrong I think that the RX is a excellent SUV but I don't think that the two SUVs will attract the same drivers. The same goes for the Tesla Type S.
The Type S may take some sales from the RX450h but until there can be quick charging available pure electric vehicles will be for short trips only.
A few weeks ago while at the Lexus dealership my salesman said they’re selling a lot of RX models and the reason being is that his customers don't like the front end of 2016 RX so they’re buying the 2015 RX now. If that’s the case, some current Lexus owners might look at other manufacturers rather than going back to Lexus. But then the new look might attract other people that don't like the current design of the 2015 RX.
Wasn't aware of that going on in Lexus dealers, that could also be something that warrants a change for the next model year, if its having this sort of impact then Lexus needs to do something.

Concur. When I was at my local dealer as early as last June my sales guy said much the same thing.

I'm in the latter category. As the owner of a generation 2 RX, I find the generation 3 car to be much the same and really "dated" compared to the NX and 2016 RX. My wife does not like the grill on the new RX, but likes the one on the 300h (apparently the RX hybrid model's grill will not differ from the non-hybrid).

It will probably come down to a lengthy test drive in both the RX and NX after the first of the year that will determine which model I eventually go with......all I can say is the estimated $10,000 more for an RX had better be REALLY worth it for me to turn my back on the NX.....probably a 300h.

The 2016 model does have a way better grille. I would hold out for it if I was in the market for that vehicle as well.

I'm curprised that there are many who are thinking the opposite.

I find the 2015 grille more dated.
I like the front end on my NX F Sport and the RC 350 F Sport but I think the front end on the Japanese NX model looks a little better.
In the beginning of the thread I stated my built for the F-Pace "S" model was about 62K without NAV. It appears that NAV is standard in the "S" model with a 5" full color display. There's an option that lists the NAV with a 12.3" instrument display. That's a huge center display. Not sure I would spend the extra $3100 for the option package but it's nice to know NAV is a standard feature on this model.
12.3" is around the size of most sun visors. That's a bit too large for a center display.
You may as well mount a tablet or an iPad for less than $3100. Good thing you didn't get the Nav since it comes standard and fun sized.

You can mount a top of the line Apple computer for that much!

Maybe they are trying to go for something similar to what Tesla has in their interiors. People seem to really like the center display in the Model S. They could be taking a queue from there.
