Lexus blows away the entire league in terms of dependability. JD Power just posted their vehicle dependability study, calculated by problems reported per 100 vehicles. Lexus cleans up at 68 while at the other end of the spectrum BMW with 130 issues/ 100 vehicles...

Ever since they started selling and producing vehicles it was like this. Reason why you still see LS400's, SC400's, GS300's all from the 90's still on the road.

what i find interesting however is that while lexus comes in at 68, parent company Toyota is down at 114...

I wonder why the dichotomy...

Both Lexus and Toyota, Toyota hit lists like these often enough. Even when it came to volume.

Wow, I knew that Lexus was at the top of the list but i didn't realize that they were number one by such a huge margin. It seems like a terrible stat to have more than 100 problems per 100 vehicles. That means that each vehicle has at least one problem and some have more than one.

Companies should aim for better than that.

Makes me far more likely to buy a Lexus.

Yeah they are dependable, it's why people would rather buy say a ....Lexus LS over a Mercedes S-Class if they want a long-term vehicle that they'll keep past the warranty period
