Dash Cam Installation

Hi guys,

Just wondering how many of you have dash cam installed and how do you connect and hide the wire?

The cig igniter is located inside the center console, I'm thinking how to do the wiring to hide it well...

It's really strange why Lexus don't offer the dash cam option...we have 4 cameras onboard and can not use them for this purpose...

I'm finishing this business trip in another 4 days...planning to rip the console off to have a look how to work it out.
Hope the dealer won't found any trace if I fxxked up and go back for help :D

I haven't installed a dash cam before but I found a guide on how to do it in the Lexus NX.

Or you can try a detached camera mount like this if you're worried about the dealer finding out.

I do have a dash cam and had Car Toys do the installation. They hooked both the dash cam and my radar detector to the roof console. Very clean installation. I do not use suction cups for mounts as they fall down.

They did a very clean job of it. When all else fails, go to your normal garage guy and they can hook it up for you very cheaply.

That or even look up a DIY to do it yourself, can't imagine it being that hard to do, plus it looks like something that requires few basic tools.
You just need that trim tool if you want to DiY. Though I'm not sure if it's that simple for the radar detector.
Both My Escort MAX360 and my dash cam are hooked to the roof console. Because I do not like the suction cups releasing at inappropriate times I use stick on mounts. the one for the Escort is a L bracket and the dash cam came with a stick on bracket. The L bracket is available from E-Bay for around $10. If you use the L bracket add a layer or 2 of electrical tape to tighten up the mount that goes into the detector.

Thank you for the information and tip on the electrical tape.
