Beside having the three options of ECO, Normal and Sport mode you can set it to Normal mode (dial on the center console) and then select an ECO option by the controls on the steering wheel (not the dial on the center console). When your in the Normal mode it's switches between Normal and ECO automatically depending on how much gas you give it. When cruising the ECO light is on and when you step on the gas the light goes out and you can feel more power kick in. To disable this mode you need to disable the ECO using the steering wheel controls. This shows up in the menu screen between the speedometer and tachometer.

Personally, I like driving in the Sport mode in my F Sport. It has a lot more power but does use up more gas. If you have your sound generator on in the F Sport it does make it sound more like your driving a sports car and when it turned off it's pretty quite inside the NX.

Here's some pictures of the three drive modes and the Normal/ECO option on the NX 200t F Sport.

1. Drive mode selector dial
2. Normal mode
3. ECO mode
4. Sport mode
5. Optional mode. Select Normal on the dial then enable ECO with the steering wheel controls. This option will automatically change back and forth from Normal to ECO mode depending on how you drive.
6. ECO light goes on when in ECO mode and off in Normal mode. Next to the 1 on the tachometer.

Thanks for the guide dude! It's good to know there's an optional mode.

What is the optional mode like? When does it turn to ECO mode? I'm just thinking that it would turn to ECO mode every time you want to get some real power which kind of defeats the purpose.

For most of my driving around town I use the optional mode then change to sport when needed. In sport in was getting around 20 mpg and in optional it is 25 mpg.
Coming from a BMW X1 with 370 horsepower the NX should be a dog but it is not. I have toned down some of my driving but not much.

Basically, it's in ECO mode when cruising until you give it more gas, at that point it goes into Normal mode to give it more power. Lay off the gas and it goes back to ECO mode.

The ECO mode is not bad just a softer accelerator. In the BMWs with the 8 speed transmission they do the engine shut down at every stop. This is real annoying.

The BMW's engine turns off and on at every stop? Which model was this and was it on an ECO mode similar to the one in the NX?

one downside of that start/stop tech is down the road who knows how it will hold up and what it could cost to replace parts and service.

Depends on how far down the road you're looking at. I'm not sure about the Lexus NX but my friend has an older BMW withe the star/stop button and it's still working fine.
If it's a concern then you can probably buy warranty for your NX. Is there a time limit on when you can purchase the warranty after acquiring the car?
